The Strings of the Thesis

Solar yellow.
 I chose this warm color because it reminded me of the ropes that country people once used to do a thousand chores: baskets, chairs, ropes, useful in the fields but also for masonry work and for lumberjacks ... I was enchanted at look at the calloused hands of the elderly who, like musicians, folded those long and supple stems, creating patterns with a rhythmic cadence, patterns that held their own world together.
 Ropes that I still feel unravel over time, uniting past, present and future: my own house, one of the few fourteenth-century towers left in Borgo San Lorenzo, belonged to the noble Tesi family who produced the precious ropes in the village and had the company right next to the tower, which for this reason was renamed Torre Tesi.
